HAVASUPAI

We weren't sure if we were going to be able to make it to Havasupai with Sam and Allison because Steve would have to miss a day of school. With spring semester so short, it would be like missing a week. Steve's going to school during the summer too, so we figured we might as well do it while we can! It was a blast! We left Sunday night and it was quite the drive. We saw a drunken fight at a gas station in Nevada, which was hilarious because we were all exhausted already and you know how things become even funnier when you're tired? Well drunk 40 year old men + 4 tired people = a really funny experience! We've been quoting them all week! "Get out of my life Phil!" hahah it was great times!
We finally made it to the Grand Canyon at 3 in the morning. We decided to sleep for a few hours and then we would hit the trail. Well...4:15 rolled around and Allison and I looked at each other and just decided it was hopeless! There we were, our husbands out cold, and we couldn't even get comfortable. We thought we might as well chat if we can't sleep :) next thing we know the boys were awake, and not exactly thrilled haha! Steve was a good sport and helped me get the sleeping bags out of the back so that I could sleep on the ground outside next to the car. He ended up sleeping out there with me and surprisingly it was a lot more comfortable sleeping on the cold bumpy parking lot than sleeping in the warm car. We slept for about an hour and then we were woken up by the light of the sun. We were so tired but just wanted to get down there!

Getting ready to take off down the trail
We hiked 8 miles before we reached the village and then we had to hike another 2 miles after that to the campground. We were so sore and so happy when we finally made it!
 Unpacking at our campsite
We made it to our camp around 11. We were so tired and we crashed for a couple of hours. We woke up sweating because it was so hot! We got our swimsuits on and headed for the falls!

It felt so good to shower and cool off! We took it easy the rest of the night. We played card games, talked and went to bed early!
TUESDAY MORNING

We got up early, barely being able to move! My calves were so tight I could hardly stand up. We had already been to Havasupai falls so we headed down the trail to Mooney falls. These were my favorite falls! It was beautiful! We had to climb through and down a cliff to make it to the bottom of the falls. It was so fun! You just hold on to chains in the cliff and make your way down.

MOONEY FALLS

We hiked down the river at the bottom of Mooney Falls and it was amazing! The water was so clear and it was perfect weather!

stupid squirrels ate all our snacks

After we hiked down the river we had a great idea to grab our floaties that we were using to sleep on and try to float down the river. We headed back to our camp, ate some lunch, and then grabbed our floaties!

We floated down the river...well we tried to anyway. We could only go a couple hundred feet and then we had to get up and walk down a little waterfall. It was still fun though! We played hard and were so tired that night. We went to bed early and got up early to hike out. The hike out was HELL! It almost killed me! There were a bunch of switch backs at the end that were so hard, but we had so much fun and it was so worth it!

Not excited to hike out!
It took us about 5 hours to hike out. We were so ready to get home! We stopped at Outback Steak House and ate so much! We had been eating ramen noodles for three days straight so it was so nice to have a good meal. We pulled into our driveway at midnight and crashed! Thanks Sam and Allison! Can't wait to go again next year!
